Communication Strategy
Communication in general is the key component in success. If you can not clearly get your point across no one will ever understand the task that has to be done. In the business world coherent communication strategy is critical. There are three components of speech which are important in communication; instead of the speaker it is the organization, second instead of a person its the constituency, and the final component is the message. These components help corporate communication because they are not gearing their speech to a individual but to the whole organization. If the organization can understand the message then there is a large chance for success. This article http://www.elwayresearch.com/communication.html explains the steps needed to be a successful communicator. It explains the objectives, strategies, goals, planning, and decision making.
Different Reasons for Communicating
Companies have many reasons for communicating. A good example is when corporations announce to employees benefit packages and health benefits are changing is when communicating is very important. Employees need good reasoning for taking something away that has been the same for years. As an employer you must get the employees to understand the change and accept it with minimal controversy. If the communicating skills of a employer are not up to satisfaction there will be a lot of protest to the changes trying to be made. Communication is only successful if you get the desired response from your audience. In this article http://ezinearticles.com/?3-Reasons-Why-Communication-Training-Will-Change-Your-Life&id=652776 it gives information why communication training is so important. In life as a parent, manager, or employer.
Trust and Good will
In business it is easier to communicate with people who like you rather than those that don't. When a company lacks trust is when communication turns into a struggle. In a company trust starts from the bottom up. The communication level must be open and topics must be talked about among everyone involved. Companies with high trust levels with employees are those that take time to clearly communicate the company's business goals to employees and help them understand the vital roles they play in achieving those goals. So communication is more then just talking and responding. It is about understanding, gaining trust, planning, and goal setting. Having a strategy is what is most important in communication.

As Garrett stated, effective communication in the business environment is incredibly important. Without it, an entire business will suffer both internally and externally.
ReplyDeleteDon't understand? Read the memo again...
Unfortunately, it's easy to say that we've all experienced poor communication in the workplace that was either our own fault or the fault of a superior. These communication barriers can sometimes be breeched through filtering out noise as is listed at http://web.cba.neu.edu/~ewertheim/interper/commun.htm. However, even though these methods work, not everybody takes advantage of these benefits.
In my own experiences in the workplace (in a restaurant to be specific), poor communication practices have hurt all aspects of the business. When managers pass on incomplete information to the staff, the entire cycle of business suffers. Poor interaction between staff and customers, even on a very minor level, can be disastrous. One communication error and that customer tells her friend, who tells another, who tells another and so on. A snowball effect has 15 potential customers avoiding your business based on one error.
What you say, who you say it to, and how is vital
When communicating with constituents, either internal or external, it is vital to make the correct choices in the creation and channel of the message. No one message is perfect for everyone >http://www.elwayresearch.com/communication.html<, so being versatile is important.
Going back to my previous example of the poor communication in the restaurant business, how you form a message is vital. One way of reprimanding an insubordinate employee might not work with another employee. Managers need to be able to convey the same message through different words and actions to get the same result. This might be difficult, but it will be worthwhile in the end when the employee is working effectively, thereby making the company more efficient.
Communication Strategy is extremely important in the business world reguardless of your profession. I have been involved with football now for about 13 years and you can see by just observing that communication is the main scource of probelms a lot of times between coaches. If you are trying to explain an idea or something new, if you dont set up your goals and process your communication will be ineffective. A lot of times coaches get into arguments about something when they both are trying to get the same point across. They just are not listening to each other, or using different words to explain the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThis translates into all types of professions Strategically Communicating is a process which should be followed if one wants to communicate effectively. To be able to communicate you must be able to listen and get feedback on your communication process if you want to improve and communicate effectively. If you listen and adapt you will be able to modify your communication situationally so that you can get the most out of your professional communication.
"What we have here is a failure to communicate"
ReplyDelete(I just enjoy that quote)
How true the above quote is in any profession. I've worked in a variety of venues and communication is the bases that would either make or break the business.
Currently, I work in the Oil and Gas Industry. Any type of failure in communication can ultimately result in the possible loss of life. In fact breakdown in communication can affect and organization, business, team, military, etc...
It is not only important to effective communicate but to actively listen. Doing so allows the individual or group be on the same page.
